St Mary’s Clean Up

St Marys Clean up Tidy Town with Millstreet MacraMillstreet Tidy Town Association are delighted to report that with the help of Millstreet Macra, and under the watchful eye of Gordon,  the clean up at St Mary’s Cemetery was a huge success. There were lots of hard workers pulling weeds in the pathways, raking and edging as well. Colman was able to spray the paths this evening I left. It just goes to show with a little help we can achieve massive things. We hope to continue with these projects in the future and really hope that more people will come and volunteer. A massive thank you to Millstreet Macra and especially Lil Millstreet Macra, loads of work done this evening. A massive thank you to all involved.

Flower Baskets

There was a flurry of activity in The Square this evening. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it was Patrick Hickey and his merry band of men (all whom declined to be pictured). These men were out in a most beautiful May evening putting up the new Flower Baskets for the main street. They look wonderful. The flower baskets stretch from The Church right up the very top of The Square. They are a welcome addition to this years crop of flowers that are springing up everywhere in the last two weeks or so. Everyone is getting fairly busy now. More photographs can be seen in 2015 Gallery.  Please do send on any photographs that you may have. Well done lads.

Flower Beds

Flower bed @ drishane castlePat and Noreen and their wonderful team of volunteers have been planting beds all over Millstreet in the last couple of weeks. Pictured are the flower beds at Drishane Castle and they look beautiful. It is a magnificent sight to see entering and leaving the town. The beds have also been done on Macroom Road, Killarney Road, various pots in town as well as The Square. More pictures can be seen in 2015 gallery. Well done to all involved. Help is always needed, so please feel free to contact us here if you would like to help.

Many Hands Make Light Work

rubbish killareney roadTonight on Facebook a debate has begun about the roads leading into Millstreet. This morning this bag and a half of rubbish was picked up between Killarney Road and Tubrid Well, a stretch of road of about 1/2 of kilometre. It is sad to think that in this day and age when litter awareness is almost everywhere that this still goes on. But this act does show that even the smallest of effort can make a massive difference to our town.  A massive thanks to this individual, it is people like you that embody the Tidy Town Spirit and Community Spirit that is valued in Millstreet. We are aware that there are many unsung heroes in our town that all play a massive part in keeping our town beautiful and to all of you we say thank you.
