New Twinning Signs
Millstreet Tidy Town are delighted to share the news that the Millstreet – Pommerit-Le-Vicomte Twinning signs have been replaced with new signs, with a grant received for Cork County Council. Millstreet Tidy Town attempted to have these unsuccessfully cleaned up over the last number of years and discovered that it really was time for these to be replaced. The new signs are a welcome sight to the lead roads into town. Big thanks to the FÁS workers for installing the new sign. Well done to all involved.
Fabulous Comment Received

Anti Litter Competition Results
Howdy folks, as requested here are the full results of the Anti Litter Competition 2015. Not a bad result. As you can see from results our strongest week was our last week @ 996.60 points. The first rounds, there was a huge amount points lost and a big part of that was due to cigarette butts on the street. There are plenty of bins in town and also outside almost all of the pubs and fast food restaurants in town have outdoor ashtrays. So there really is no excuse for cigarette butts being thrown around the street. Please just take a minute when you put it out and then just bin it. Again congratulations to all involved, massive result.
Weekly Litter Pick Up – Last in Season
In the words of Old Blue Eyes, “And now the end is near…” The final Litter Pick Up for 2015 is season is upon us. Same Bat Time, Same Bat Channel, 7pm in The Square, Millstreet. Bags, Pickers and Gloves provided. Millstreet Tidy Town Association would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the stalwarts. To all those who come out on a Thursday evening week in week out. To all those who off their own backs are picking litter up on a DAILY basis. To all the lads in FÁS. To all those who have cleaned up even just outside their own houses and business premises. These people are an absolute credit to Millstreet Town and Millstreet Tidy Town are hugely grateful for the time and effort that these people go to keep Millstreet the beautiful town that it is. Thank you all very much.
A Little Help
A Little help goes a long way, and never a truer word was said when it comes to Millstreet Tidy Town Association. Everybody can do a little bit, even something as small as sweeping the pavement outside your house or picking up that one piece of litter on the way home or running to the shop. All these little acts make a huge difference to your community and environment. So grab a sweeping brush, or a pair of gloves and give a quick scoot around your area, just outside your door or front gate. It will make a massive difference and it only takes 2 minutes out of your day. Lets make Millstreet a tidier and more beautiful place to live.

Flower Beds
Pat and Noreen and their wonderful team of volunteers have been planting beds all over Millstreet in the last couple of weeks. Pictured are the flower beds at Drishane Castle and they look beautiful. It is a magnificent sight to see entering and leaving the town. The beds have also been done on Macroom Road, Killarney Road, various pots in town as well as The Square. More pictures can be seen in 2015 gallery. Well done to all involved. Help is always needed, so please feel free to contact us here if you would like to help.
Many Hands Make Light Work
Tonight on Facebook a debate has begun about the roads leading into Millstreet. This morning this bag and a half of rubbish was picked up between Killarney Road and Tubrid Well, a stretch of road of about 1/2 of kilometre. It is sad to think that in this day and age when litter awareness is almost everywhere that this still goes on. But this act does show that even the smallest of effort can make a massive difference to our town. A massive thanks to this individual, it is people like you that embody the Tidy Town Spirit and Community Spirit that is valued in Millstreet. We are aware that there are many unsung heroes in our town that all play a massive part in keeping our town beautiful and to all of you we say thank you.
