We had a wonderful night at the Awards Ceremony on the 1st of November. It was attended by a great group of volunteers and winners. It is a highly regarded night in our calendar as it gives us the opportunity to thank people and recognise them for their contribution to our town. So our illustrious winners were

Best Residential : Laurence O’Keeffe

Best Business: Noel C. Duggan.

Congratulations to all our finalists and especially this years winners. It is so important for all of us to do a little but it helps a lot.

Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

Millstreet Tidy Town Association is always looking for a helping hand. This year alone we will spend over €10000. There is a lot of work that goes on that people don’t realise that it done on a voluntary basis and with a very limited fund. Essentially we don’t have one and rely totally on Grants received and very kind donations. This year is a particularly tough as we need to replace some rather expensive pieces of equipment, such as the Lawnmower which can cost up to €2000. Strimmers also. There is also the cost of seed for Herlihy’s, which in fairness to our volunteers is looking superb and will look even more so when we plant the wildflower seed which will cost in excess of €100. In short we are looking for Sponsors. Whether it is an individual or a local company or business, please we are asking for your help. We are very lucky with our current sponsors  and very appreciative of their support. The fact remains the entire town benefits from the work of Millstreet Tidy Town. Last year alone, Millstreet Town won 1st in the Anti Litter Competition, Bronze Medal in the Tidy Town Competition 2016, ran workshops with both of the Primary Schools and also the secondary school and Millstreet Tidy Town Association was the driving force behind all these.  Any individual, Local Company or Local Business that would like to discuss some form of sponsorship please do not hesitate to contact here on the website. Via email millstreettidytown@gmail.com, Via Facebook and you can speak to myself and I can give you details. All donations are gratefully accepted. Here’s to an even more successful 2017.

Anti Litter Competition

The Anti Litter Competition for 2017 is beginning on

Monday 8th May 2017. T hat is this coming Monday. As you are all aware I am sure, Millstreet Town won 1st Prize in Category A. So will we make it 2 in a row. I reckon we can do that no bother. So grab your sweeping brushes, shovels, gloves and bin bags and as always get out and clean, clean, clean. The evenings are only fab all this week so no excuses. Why not rope in a couple of the neighbours on your street and make a right good go of it. You will be done in no time. I will post the schedule of the particular areas that will judged just as soon as I get them. Any groups or any volunteers that would like help or a loan of equipment for their litter pick up please do not hesitate to contact me here on the page and I will sort out gear for you.  Fingers crossed we will be top notch again this year.

Cork County Council Tidy Town Evening

On the 1st of March, some of the committee members of Millstreet Tidy Town Association attended an evening organised by Cork County Council about the Tidy Town Competition. It was a very worthwhile excursion as at this talk were 3 former judges of the Tidy Town competition so we were able to ask some very poignant questions and hopefully this knowledge can be successfully applied to this years application and we can get the Gold for 2017. The talk was given by 3 tidy Towns judges – Billy Houlihan, Billy Flynn and Frank Hanley on built environment, biodiversity and advice on how to complete the application Thanks to those who attended the evening. Lets get started for 2017 now guys. Also a huge thanks to Cork County Council for organising this event in the Charleville Park Hotel.
