Litter pick up
Get By With A Little Help From My Friends
Millstreet Tidy Town Association is always looking for a helping hand. This year alone we will spend over €10000. There is a lot of work that goes on that people don’t realise that it done on a voluntary basis and with a very limited fund. Essentially we don’t have one and rely totally on Grants received and very kind donations. This year is a particularly tough as we need to replace some rather expensive pieces of equipment, such as the Lawnmower which can cost up to €2000. Strimmers also. There is also the cost of seed for Herlihy’s, which in fairness to our volunteers is looking superb and will look even more so when we plant the wildflower seed which will cost in excess of €100. In short we are looking for Sponsors. Whether it is an individual or a local company or business, please we are asking for your help. We are very lucky with our current sponsors and very appreciative of their support. The fact remains the entire town benefits from the work of Millstreet Tidy Town. Last year alone, Millstreet Town won 1st in the Anti Litter Competition, Bronze Medal in the Tidy Town Competition 2016, ran workshops with both of the Primary Schools and also the secondary school and Millstreet Tidy Town Association was the driving force behind all these. Any individual, Local Company or Local Business that would like to discuss some form of sponsorship please do not hesitate to contact here on the website. Via email millstreettidytown@gmail.com, Via Facebook and you can speak to myself and I can give you details. All donations are gratefully accepted. Here’s to an even more successful 2017.

Bronze Medal Returns
Great news came from The Helix this afternoon. Not only did Millstreet earn an extra 6 points this year in the National Tidy Town Competition but we are to see the return of a Bronze Medal. This is an amazing result for the town. The report has been loaded up on the website and full comments and points can be seen from this page. http://millstreettidytown.ie/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/2016-County-Cork_North-Millstreet-480.pdf. Millstreet Tidy Town Association would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved. Without a strong community spirit and a stalwart of volunteers this result would not be possible. Tidy Town is just one simple way that we can showcase how wonderful a place Millstreet is. We can hold our heads high safe in the knowledge that all the hard work that people are putting into to keeping this town a beautiful place to live is paying off. So hats off and big congratulations to all. Pat and Noreen were in attendance representing the Millstreet Tidy Town Association this afternoon and I will post pictures of this fantastic afternoons result when I receive them.

Tidy Town Application 2016
After many long evenings, drafts and redrafts the final application form for Supervalu National Tidy Town competition is ready for submission. A huge thanks to all involved in getting this application ready for the judges. It definitely is a group effort. Lets hope we can better the results from last year.
Litter Challenge 2016 – First Round Results
Drum roll please…. First round results are in for the Litter Challenge 2016 are in. I am absolutely delighted and so proud to announce that Millstreet are first with a result of 992.3.
This is a massive achievement, if this momentum can be kept going there is no reason why Millstreet should not place first place for the entire Litter Challenge.
So keep up the good work everybody, the next judging period began Monday 23rd May to Wednesday 1st June with particular focus on Murphy’s Terrace. Remember just a little makes a huge difference, even something as little as tidying up outside your front garden makes a huge difference.
