Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Recycling has become a way of life for us all these days and rightly so. The footprint we leave behind today is for our children. We all try to do our best but it can be confusing with so many materials out there. Repak have developed a handy guide for recycling tips for households on their website. Detailing the most common materials that can be recycle. Rember to wash and dry out all materials before they are put in the recycle bin.
Winter Tips For You
So Winter has reached our fair shores once again, but the living breathing entity that is your garden always needs some TLC. Never fear the Millstreet Tidy Town Association is here to keep you going. On the wonderful World Wide Web I have found a great website with a handy weekly guide for you to follow. It breaks all the gardening jobs and which needs to be done where. Great to keep you motivated during the harsh winter months.
This is a great user friendly website. Happy gardening.

Get By With A Little Help From My Friends
Millstreet Tidy Town Association is always looking for a helping hand. This year alone we will spend over €10000. There is a lot of work that goes on that people don’t realise that it done on a voluntary basis and with a very limited fund. Essentially we don’t have one and rely totally on Grants received and very kind donations. This year is a particularly tough as we need to replace some rather expensive pieces of equipment, such as the Lawnmower which can cost up to €2000. Strimmers also. There is also the cost of seed for Herlihy’s, which in fairness to our volunteers is looking superb and will look even more so when we plant the wildflower seed which will cost in excess of €100. In short we are looking for Sponsors. Whether it is an individual or a local company or business, please we are asking for your help. We are very lucky with our current sponsors and very appreciative of their support. The fact remains the entire town benefits from the work of Millstreet Tidy Town. Last year alone, Millstreet Town won 1st in the Anti Litter Competition, Bronze Medal in the Tidy Town Competition 2016, ran workshops with both of the Primary Schools and also the secondary school and Millstreet Tidy Town Association was the driving force behind all these. Any individual, Local Company or Local Business that would like to discuss some form of sponsorship please do not hesitate to contact here on the website. Via email millstreettidytown@gmail.com, Via Facebook and you can speak to myself and I can give you details. All donations are gratefully accepted. Here’s to an even more successful 2017.
Anti Litter Competition
The Anti Litter Competition for 2017 is beginning on
Monday 8th May 2017. T hat is this coming Monday. As you are all aware I am sure, Millstreet Town won 1st Prize in Category A. So will we make it 2 in a row. I reckon we can do that no bother. So grab your sweeping brushes, shovels, gloves and bin bags and as always get out and clean, clean, clean. The evenings are only fab all this week so no excuses. Why not rope in a couple of the neighbours on your street and make a right good go of it. You will be done in no time. I will post the schedule of the particular areas that will judged just as soon as I get them. Any groups or any volunteers that would like help or a loan of equipment for their litter pick up please do not hesitate to contact me here on the page and I will sort out gear for you. Fingers crossed we will be top notch again this year.
